LetsGoRide legal information

Privacy Policy

How LetsGoRide collects, uses, protects, and manages user information.

Effective date: 23 May 2026

1. Who we are

LetsGoRide is a ride-sharing and trip coordination platform for Zimbabwe-focused routes. The app helps passengers search for rides, request seats, manage trip records, contact support, and helps drivers post trips after meeting account and safety requirements.

2. Information we collect

LetsGoRide may collect the information needed to operate the service safely and reliably.

  • Account information: full name, email address, password hash, city, profile photo, phone number if provided, short bio, and travel preferences.
  • Authentication and verification information: email verification status, one-time code records, password reset records, login/session records, and account security timestamps.
  • Phone number: optional during signup/login, but required before booking a seat, posting a driver trip, or accepting passenger requests.
  • Ride and booking information: origin, destination, travel date, pickup and drop-off notes, seats, price, vehicle details, ride requests, booking status, and trip records.
  • Location during active trips: LetsGoRide may use location only during active trips to help with trip coordination, live trip progress, ETA, and safety.
  • Driver verification information: identity document, driver license, vehicle registration or logbook, optional vehicle photo, verification notes, verification status, and review outcome.
  • Support and safety information: support messages, safety reports, complaints, dispute notes, and submitted evidence if provided by the user.
  • Technical information: basic device/app logs, error logs, IP address, browser/device type, timestamps, and security logs needed to operate and protect the service.

3. Information we do not collect

  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers for targeted advertising.
  • We do not access contacts.
  • We do not record microphone audio.
  • We do not track users 24/7.
  • We do not track users when no active trip is happening.
  • We do not use live location outside active trips.
  • We do not show verification documents to passengers or normal users.
  • We do not publicly display phone numbers in ride browsing.

4. How we use information

We use information to create and manage accounts, verify email addresses, help users search, post, request, and manage rides, coordinate confirmed trips, verify drivers and vehicle details, provide support and safety review, prevent fraud, fake accounts, misuse, and unsafe activity, maintain security logs, improve reliability, and comply with legal or operational obligations.

5. Email verification and password reset

LetsGoRide may send one-time verification codes and password reset emails. Codes expire after a short time. Users should never share verification codes with anyone. Passwords are stored as hashes, not plain text.

6. Phone number privacy

Your phone number is optional during signup/login. It becomes required before real ride actions, such as booking a seat, posting a trip, or accepting passengers. Phone numbers are not shown publicly in ride browsing. They may be shared only where operationally needed, such as between confirmed passengers and drivers for pickup coordination. Authorized LetsGoRide support or safety staff may access phone numbers for account, safety, and support reasons.

7. Driver verification documents

Drivers may need to submit identity and vehicle documents before posting rides. These documents are used for safety review, fraud prevention, and driver verification. They are reviewed only by authorized LetsGoRide support or safety review staff. Verification documents are not visible to passengers or normal users. LetsGoRide may approve, reject, or request more information.

8. Verified badge

A blue verified badge means an account has completed LetsGoRide identity verification. The badge helps build trust by showing that an account has been reviewed. It does not guarantee behavior, safety, trip quality, or legal compliance.

9. Sharing information

LetsGoRide may share limited information between confirmed trip participants only as needed for trip coordination. We may also use service providers to run the platform, including hosting, database, email delivery, app infrastructure, and security tools. We may disclose information if required by law, safety investigations, fraud prevention, or valid legal requests. LetsGoRide does not sell personal information.

10. Data security

LetsGoRide uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information. No system is 100% secure. Users should protect their passwords, devices, and one-time verification codes.

11. Data retention

Account data is kept while an account is active. Some safety, support, trip, security, and dispute records may be retained for legal, fraud prevention, safety, or operational reasons. Driver verification records may be retained as needed for safety review and compliance.

12. Account deletion

Users can request account deletion from the app or by contacting support. Some records may be retained where necessary for safety, dispute handling, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or legitimate operational reasons. Deleted accounts may lose access to ride history, bookings, and verification status.

13. Children

LetsGoRide is not intended for children. Users must be old enough to create an account and use ride-sharing services responsibly. Drivers must meet legal driving requirements.

14. International use

LetsGoRide may process data using hosting, database, and email providers that operate in different countries. By using the service, users understand that their data may be processed outside their country.

15. Changes to this policy

LetsGoRide may update this Privacy Policy as the service grows. When we make updates, we will update the effective date.

16. Contact

For privacy, account, verification, or support questions, contact LetsGoRide support.
